Ed Ort has published a three-part article serving as an introduction the Java Enterprise Edition 6 Platform that is well worth looking at.  Part One details goals of the platform and provides an overview of new features in JEE6.  Part Two looks into more detail on new features within Servlet 3.0 and JSF 2.0.  Part Three delves more into things like JPA 2.0.
